NDIS supports lists: what your plan funding can and can't pay for

Since the 2024 amendments to the NDIS Act, funding must be spent on supports that appear on the NDIS supports list. Here is how that affects allied health therapy.

The Getting the NDIS Back on Track Act introduced a defined list of NDIS supports. Plan funding can only be used on supports that appear on that list and that are consistent with your plan's stated purpose.

For participants working with allied health teams, therapy delivered by qualified practitioners to pursue plan goals continues to be a fundable NDIS support. What has tightened is spending on items considered day-to-day living costs or clinically unrelated services.

What this means in practice

  • Therapy sessions, assessments and reports written by your occupational therapist, speech pathologist, physiotherapist, dietitian or podiatrist remain claimable when they relate to your plan goals.
  • Assistive technology and home modifications still require the relevant assessment and, above certain cost thresholds, quotes and NDIA approval.
  • Supports that are the responsibility of the health, education or aged care system are generally not NDIS supports — we help you identify the right stream and refer accordingly.
  • If you are unsure whether something is claimable, ask before the service is delivered. We will document the goal link in your service notes.

How we support you

Every Access Support service agreement states the supports being delivered, the line items used and the reporting included, so that plan reviews and audits are straightforward.
